Join us Saturday, June 10th for an evening of writing, reading, and fun as we put our newly renovated Activities and Meeting Rooms through their paces for Gather & Author! Author! Doors open at 2:30 p.m. and activities begin at 3:00 p.m.

Registration is now open for a Haiku Workshop led by award-winning poet, Michael Kozubek! Kozubek has led many haiku workshops and has written and published over 200 haiku, senryu, tanka, and haibun. He was awarded second prize in the International Section of the 2017 Mainichi (Japan) Haiku Contest. The 90-minute workshop begins at 3:00 p.m. in the Meeting Room.

Beginning at 5:00 p.m. local author, Vaughn Roycroft will give a presentation and reading. Author of “The Severing Son” (2022) and “Bold Ascension” (2023), Roycroft will guide attendees through a sure-fire means to escape our whirlwind world of scrolling and binge-watching: immersion in a fictional world. A reading from “Bold Ascension” and a question-and-answer period will follow.

Between the two sessions, guests will be invited to enjoy complimentary refreshments, served in the Activities Room, while they mingle and explore the Community Center.

Suggested donation for the event is $5. Proceeds will support new book purchases for the Center’s lending library.

For more information or to register for the workshop, please leave a voicemail at 269-426-3909, or email FriendsOfNewTroy@yahoo.com. Space is limited so please register early to guarantee your space.
